Mt. Ashwabay (the host for BigTop) sits just outside Bayfield, with an easy drive from Ashland Wisconsin,
and about an hour and a half from Duluth Minnesota.

Winter:
brings downhill skiing, cross-country trails, and snowshoeing through quiet, snow-covered woods. It’s approachable terrain, but still plenty of fun if you’ve been doing it a while.
Summer and Fall:
open things up for hiking, trail running, and events. The views of Lake Superior from the higher points are worth the trip alone, especially when the leaves start to turn.
Venue ground open for shows 2 hours prior to the event start time. Parking control will guide you to a parking space after entering the grounds. For larger shows we recommend arriving early to avoid heavy traffic and to ensure you have plenty of time to get to your seats. Vehicles are expected to exit venue grounds following the end of the show and overnight parking is not permitted. Please be aware that our parking area is located on gravel terrain and during larger events patrons may be directed to park in areas that are uphill.

Our lovingly restored Bayfield historic home once housed Herbert C. Hale, general manager Bayfield Transfer Railway. Mr Hale’s employer – William F. Dalrymple – had a grand vision for Bayfield. He imagined crosscountry railroads and ports up and down the Superior shore, things that would make Bayfield rival Chicago. The bustling railway and economic expansion Mr. Hale envisioned was not to be. The home went on to have many more interesting caretakers in the decades since. We hope you feel the spirit and excitement of Bayfield’s rich history when you stay at Hale House and take a moment to imagine the people who came before to make this the interesting & beautiful place it is today.
